The City of Milwaukee has several municipal meetings scheduled for today. Residents are encouraged to participate in person or virtually where applicable to stay informed on local governance and public safety initiatives.

  • Board of Fire and Police Commission: Meeting at 8:30 AM in City Hall, Room 301-A.
  • Granville-Havenwoods Advisory Council: Meeting at 9:00 AM. This session will be conducted virtually.
  • Board of Health: Meeting at 5:00 PM in City Hall, Room 301-A, with a virtual attendance option available.

Please note that the Board of Review and the Anti-Illegal Dumping Policy and Research Committee meetings previously scheduled for today have been cancelled.

Major Traffic and Infrastructure Advisories

The Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) have several active projects impacting local travel. Residents should plan for delays in the following areas:

  • N. 76th Street (WIS 181): A major resurfacing project began on March 2. Construction spans a 4.5-mile stretch from Florist Avenue to County Line Road. Motorists should expect lane reductions and occasional single or double lane closures in both directions. This project is expected to continue through fall 2026.
  • 27th Street Viaduct: The viaduct remains closed over the Menomonee River for ongoing work related to the I-94 East-West Freeway Project. Detours are in place.
  • We Energies Infrastructure: A temporary street restriction is active through March 9 for underground electrical work. Drivers are advised to follow signed detours.

Public Health and Service Announcements

The Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) remains on alert regarding recent measles exposures in the county. Health officials continue to investigate cases and urge residents to verify their immunization status. Additionally, the MHD has successfully overseen the remediation and reopening of food facilities in the Historic Third Ward following recent code compliance inspections.

Car Seat Safety Check: A public service event is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, March 5, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Outreach Community Health Centers. Certified technicians will be available to assist caregivers with proper car seat installation. Appointments are recommended.

Sanitation and Transit Updates

Weekly garbage collection and bi-weekly recycling services are operating on a standard schedule. Carts must be placed at the collection point by 7:00 AM. Residents are reminded to keep a three-foot clearance around carts to ensure automated pickup is not obstructed. Additionally, the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) has announced upcoming route changes for routes 11, 22, 24, 80, and 88, which are set to take effect on March 8 due to regional construction and budget realignments.
