City and County Officials Set for Ethics, Infrastructure, and Audit Sessions Today

Governmental Meetings and Public Sessions: March 2, 2026

Milwaukee’s political and administrative calendars are active this Monday, March 2, 2026, with several city and county bodies convening to address ethics oversight, historic preservation, and critical infrastructure projects. These sessions offer a glimpse into the local government's immediate priorities, ranging from fiscal accountability to the long-term maintenance of the city's transportation network.

City of Milwaukee: Ethics and Preservation Focus

The City of Milwaukee Ethics Board kicked off the day’s activities with a virtual session beginning at 9:00 a.m. The board, which serves as a watchdog for municipal integrity, oversees compliance with the city's ethics code for officials and employees. Later this afternoon, the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled to meet at 3:00 p.m. in Room 301-B of City Hall. The commission is responsible for designated historic landmarks and districts, ensuring that new developments and renovations respect Milwaukee’s architectural heritage.

In addition to formal committee sessions, the Department of Public Works is hosting a significant public meeting today regarding the Hawley Road Bridge over State Street. Taking place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Sebastian Parish (1725 N. 54th St.), the meeting will focus on proposed rehabilitation improvements for the structure. While construction is not tentatively scheduled until 2028, city engineers are presenting plans today that allow the bridge and surrounding approach roadways to remain open to traffic during the work.

Milwaukee County: Audit Committee and Community Support

At the county level, the Milwaukee County Audit Committee is scheduled to convene at 3:00 p.m. in Room 203-R of the Courthouse, with options for virtual attendance. A significant portion of today’s agenda involves Item 3, File No. 26-299, which is slated for a closed session. Under Wisconsin State Statutes, this move allows the committee to receive oral or written legal advice regarding strategy for pending or potential litigation.

Beyond the courthouse, the county is also focusing on direct resident services. The Child Support Services division is hosting a "Child Support in Your Neighborhood" session today at the West Allis Library. Starting at 5:00 p.m., this event is designed to provide residents with accessible information regarding case management and legal resources outside of a formal court setting.

Looking Ahead

While today’s focus remains on oversight and infrastructure, Milwaukee’s leadership is also preparing for a busy week. Tomorrow, March 3, will see the full Milwaukee Common Council and the Public Debt Commission convene for their respective sessions, continuing the momentum of early-March legislative activity.
