Case developments following fatal crash near 76th Street and Glendale Avenue

Milwaukee authorities have made a second arrest in the investigation into a hit-and-run crash that killed a Bell Ambulance emergency medical technician, intensifying a case that has drawn wide attention across the region’s public-safety community.

The collision occurred on Thursday night, Jan. 16, 2026, near North 76th Street and West Glendale Avenue, close to West Hampton Avenue. Investigators have said a pickup truck traveling north on 76th Street struck a vehicle traveling east on Glendale Avenue. The driver of the pickup truck left the scene after the impact.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 34-year-old Meng Kue. Kue’s family has said he worked as an EMT for Bell Ambulance and was driving home from work when the crash occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

What is confirmed about arrests and potential charges

Milwaukee police previously confirmed a 21-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the case. Jail booking information listed potential allegations including homicide, hit-and-run causing death, and operating after revocation. At the time of those reports, formal charges had not been announced publicly and the case was expected to be reviewed for charging by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities have now announced a second arrest tied to the same investigation. Public information released to date has not fully detailed the second person’s alleged role, whether that person is suspected of driving, assisting in flight, or taking part in events leading up to the crash. Investigators also have not publicly outlined whether additional suspects are being sought.

Key facts and open questions investigators are still working to answer

  • Who was driving the pickup at the moment of impact and whether any transfer of control occurred before or after the crash.

  • Whether the pickup truck was recovered at the scene and what forensic or electronic evidence may be available from the vehicle.

  • Whether alleged speed, impairment, or license status will be central to charging decisions.

  • What evidence supports the second arrest and whether prosecutors will allege aiding, obstruction, or related offenses.

“We are thankful for the outpouring of support from everyone in the community since the sudden loss of our beloved Meng. He was adored, cherished, and will be incredibly missed by his family and friends.”

The investigation remains active. Authorities have continued to ask anyone with information to come forward as the case moves through charging review and potential court proceedings.
