Public Bulletin: February 5 Property Tax Deadline and Winter Service Updates

Final Call: Property Tax Payment Deadline
The City of Milwaukee Treasurer’s Office reminds residents that today, Thursday, February 5, 2026, marks the final day of the current property tax collection period. Taxpayers are encouraged to complete their payments to avoid potential interest charges or penalties. City Hall is open to the public starting at 7:30 A.M. to accommodate last-minute filers. To facilitate this process, a limited number of free 15-minute parking spaces have been designated on the east side of North Water Street and North Market Street, as well as the south side of East Kilbourn Avenue, specifically for those making payments in person.
Infrastructure & Traffic: 27th Street Viaduct Closure
Commuters are advised that the 27th Street Viaduct remains closed for a significant reconstruction project that began earlier this week on February 2. This closure is expected to impact traffic patterns for a lengthy duration. Drivers should plan for alternate routes and expect increased congestion on surrounding arterial streets. Department of Public Works (DPW) signage is currently in place to redirect traffic around the construction zone.
Public Safety and Health Advisories
The Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Advisory as temperatures are forecasted to drop significantly throughout the remainder of the week. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure and check on vulnerable neighbors. Additionally, the department highlights the following health updates:
- Keenan STI Clinic: The facility remains temporarily closed for updates but is scheduled to resume services later this month.
- Communicable Disease Alert: Officials are monitoring confirmed measles cases in nearby Waukesha County and advise residents to ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
- Winter Parking: Standard winter parking regulations remain in effect. Drivers must adhere to alternate-side parking rules between 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. on residential streets and observe the total ban on overnight parking along through-highways and bus routes.
City Council and Committee Meetings
Several official city meetings are scheduled for today, providing opportunities for public oversight and testimony. Notable sessions include:
- Fire and Police Commission: The commission will hold an executive session at 4:30 P.M., followed by a regular session at 6:00 P.M. in City Hall, Room 301-B.
