Official Public Notices: Milwaukee Parking Transitions and Construction Alerts

Spring Parking Transition Now in Effect
The City of Milwaukee’s winter parking regulations officially concluded on March 1, 2026. As of this Sunday, March 8, standard spring parking rules are in effect. Residents and visitors should be aware of the following seasonal changes:
- Overnight Parking: On most residential streets, overnight parking is now permitted on both sides of the street until December 1, unless otherwise posted by specific signage.
- Permit Requirements: A valid overnight parking permit or temporary night parking permission is still required for all vehicles parked on city streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday.
- Sunday Exemption: Parking permits are not required on Sunday mornings, allowing for unrestricted overnight parking from Saturday night into Sunday morning unless otherwise restricted by tow-away zone or emergency signs.
Major Transportation and Infrastructure Projects
Several major construction projects are entering new phases that will impact local travel starting this week. Motorists are advised to plan for the following:
- I-94 East-West Project: A significant new phase begins Monday, March 9, at 9:00 p.m. A long-term single-lane closure will be implemented on I-94 eastbound between 35th Street and 25th Street. Additionally, the 35th Street entrance ramp to I-94 eastbound will be closed for the remainder of the 2026 calendar year. Recommended alternate routes include Wisconsin Avenue and Clybourn Street.
- WIS 24 (Forest Home Avenue) Resurfacing: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will resume work on WIS 24 between 45th Street and Janesville Road during the week of March 16. Current activity includes minor lighting and restoration work between 45th Street and Howard Avenue, which may result in short-term lane closures this Sunday and throughout the week.
Public Health and Community Services
The Milwaukee Health Department has issued updates regarding local clinical services and recent health investigations:
- Measles Resolution: The health department has officially resolved the investigation into a measles exposure case at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport from earlier this year. No new cases have been linked to the event, though officials remind residents to remain current on all immunizations.
- Clinic Reopening: The Keenan Health Center STI Clinic has resumed full operations. Residents seeking sexual health resources, screenings, or updated clinic hours are encouraged to visit the center during regular weekday hours.
