Official Public Notice: Milwaukee Health Alerts, Election Deadlines, and Winter Regulations

Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Investigation
The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD), in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, has issued an active health advisory following a confirmed measles exposure at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. The exposure is linked to a traveler on Southwest Airlines Flight WN 266, which arrived from Phoenix on January 29, 2026. Individuals who were at the airport or on that specific flight are advised to monitor for symptoms through February 19, 2026. Symptoms may include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a characteristic rash. Residents are urged to verify their Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination status immediately. If symptoms develop, contact a healthcare provider by phone before seeking in-person care to prevent further transmission.
Voter Information: February Spring Primary
The City of Milwaukee Election Commission reminds residents that the Spring Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. While the deadline for in-person registration at the Municipal Clerk’s office was Friday, February 13, eligible residents may still register to vote at their designated polling place on Election Day. To register at the polls, voters must provide a valid proof of residence, such as a Wisconsin driver’s license, utility bill, or bank statement. Polling locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to confirm their polling site and view a sample ballot through official city resources before heading to the polls.
Transportation and Winter Parking Regulations
The Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that citywide winter parking regulations remain in effect through March 1, 2026. Overnight parking is strictly prohibited on all through-highways and designated bus routes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. In the event of a declared snow emergency, alternate-side parking rules will be enforced citywide from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Additionally, motorists should be aware of significant long-term traffic impacts due to the 27th Street Viaduct closure, which commenced in early February, and ongoing construction on the West Leg Segment of the I-94 East-West expansion project near American Family Field.
