Measles Exposure Advisory and Clinic Reopening

The Milwaukee Health Department (MHD), in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, has issued a public health advisory following a confirmed case of measles exposure at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport earlier this month. Residents who traveled through the airport or may have been exposed are urged to monitor for symptoms and verify their immunization records. In more positive health news, the MHD announced the official reopening of the Sexual and Reproductive Health (STI) Clinic at the Keenan Health Center as of February 18, 2026. The clinic, which had been closed since last year due to staffing shortages, has restored full operations for testing and treatment services.

Winter Parking Regulations and Snow Emergency Protocols

The Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that seasonal winter parking regulations remain in effect through March 1, 2026. Overnight parking is strictly prohibited on all through-highways and designated bus routes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. regardless of snowfall. In the event of a declared snow emergency, all vehicles must adhere to alternate-side parking regulations city-wide to facilitate effective plowing operations. Failure to comply with these seasonal mandates may result in citations ranging from $50 to $150 or the potential for vehicle towing. Residents are encouraged to sign up for text and email parking alerts to receive real-time updates on emergency declarations.

Lead Service Line Replacement: 2026 Owner Request Program

Milwaukee Water Works has officially launched the 2026 cycle of its Lead Service Line Replacement programs. For the 2026 calendar year, the utility has selected an initial 200 properties for replacement through the Owner Request Program. This initiative allows property owners to voluntarily replace lead service lines ahead of the City’s long-term schedule, with costs shared between the owner and the City. Selection for the 2026 program was based on application timing and health-priority factors. Property owners not included in this cycle may apply for future phases on a first-come, first-served basis as part of the City’s commitment to replacing all 65,000 lead lines by 2037.

Infrastructure Notice: 27th Street Viaduct Closure

Commuters are advised that the 27th Street Viaduct remains closed for a significant reconstruction project that began on February 2. This closure is expected to last for a lengthy duration to accommodate structural repairs and infrastructure upgrades. Motorists should continue to use alternate routes and follow posted detours to avoid significant traffic delays during peak travel times.
