Public Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Investigation

The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD), in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, has issued a public health advisory following a confirmed case of measles in the region. Residents who were present at the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport on January 29, 2026, between the hours of 10:31 p.m. and 12:31 a.m., or who traveled on Flight WN 266 from Phoenix, are advised to monitor for symptoms. Symptoms include a high fever, cough, red and watery eyes, and a characteristic red rash that begins at the hairline and spreads downward. Health officials urge all residents to verify their immunization records, as the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine remains the most effective protection against the virus.

Winter Parking Regulations and Overnight Enforcement

The Department of Public Works reminds all vehicle owners that winter parking regulations remain in effect across the City of Milwaukee through March 1, 2026. For Wednesday, February 25, residents must adhere to the following rules:

  • Alternate Side Parking: On this odd-numbered calendar day, vehicles parked overnight must be moved to the side of the street with odd-numbered house addresses before the 2:00 a.m. enforcement period begins.
  • Through-Highways and Bus Routes: Overnight parking is strictly prohibited on all designated through-highways and bus routes between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., regardless of snow accumulation.
  • Fines: Violations of these seasonal ordinances result in citations ranging from $50 to $150.

Reopening of Keenan Health Center Clinic

The Milwaukee Health Department has officially announced the reopening of the STI Clinic at the Keenan Health Center as of mid-February. The facility provides essential community health services, including confidential screenings, treatments, and counseling. This reopening is part of the city's ongoing commitment to expanding accessible healthcare services in the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

Common Council Legislative Update: ICE Out Package

The Milwaukee Common Council is currently reviewing the "ICE Out" legislative package introduced this month. The proposed resolutions and ordinances seek to limit the use of city property by federal immigration enforcement agencies and modify Milwaukee Police Department Standard Operating Procedures. Specific items under review include a prohibition on the use of masks or face coverings by law enforcement officers while acting in an official capacity and the creation of a new Office for New Milwaukeeans to support immigrant integration.

Public Service Announcement: Click4Action and Winter Services

The Department of Neighborhood Services (DNS) encourages residents to utilize the "Click4Action" mobile application to report municipal issues. During the current winter season, the city is prioritizing emergency response requests for renters experiencing a lack of heat or hot water. Residents can also use the platform to report potholes on city streets and alleys. Rapid response teams are being deployed daily to address infrastructure maintenance during the freeze-thaw cycle typical of late February.
