Common Council Session and Local Recognitions
The Milwaukee Common Council is scheduled to convene for its regular meeting today, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall. Beyond the standard legislative agenda, Council President José G. Pérez has announced special recognitions for two prominent figures who have significantly impacted the city's cultural and economic landscape.
- Reuben Harpole: The Council will honor local historian Reuben Harpole for his decades of service, including his work with America’s Black Holocaust Museum and the development of over 25 community programs.
- Peter Feigin: Outgoing Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin will be recognized for his 12-year tenure, which included leading the team to an NBA title and spearheading the development of the Deer District.
The meeting will be broadcast live on the City Channel and streamed via the official city website for residents wishing to follow the proceedings remotely.
Health Department Advisory: Measles Exposure Update
The Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) continues to monitor a measles exposure incident stemming from a traveler at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport on January 29. As of this morning, health officials have identified six Milwaukee residents potentially exposed during the flight. Commissioner of Health Mike Totoraitis, PhD, will host a media availability at 2:15 p.m. today at the Zeidler Municipal Building to provide further updates on the investigation.
Residents are urged to check their vaccination status through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry. Symptoms of measles, which can appear up to 21 days after exposure, include high fever, cough, and a red rash. The MHD reminds the public that MMR vaccines remain available at no cost at city clinics during walk-in hours.
Winter Parking Regulations and Service Cancellations
The Department of Public Works reminds residents that winter parking regulations remain in full effect through March 1. Unless a snow emergency is declared, vehicles must follow alternate side parking rules on residential streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. to ensure emergency vehicle access and potential snow removal operations. Additionally, the Board of City Service Commissioners meeting originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today has been officially cancelled.
Community Notice: Center Relocation
The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center has officially announced its relocation to a more accessible facility at 161 S. 1st Street in Walker's Point. This move, active as of this week, aims to bring vital services closer to the populations served by the center. Residents seeking programming for youth or aging populations should note the change in address from the previous Court Street location.
