Official Bulletin: City Council Meetings and Public Health Advisories for Feb. 23

Public Health Alert: Measles Exposure Monitoring
The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) continues to monitor a public health advisory regarding a confirmed measles exposure that occurred earlier this month at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. Health officials are investigating the state’s third confirmed case of the year, which has been linked to an out-of-state traveler. Residents who were at the airport on January 29 or traveled on Southwest Flight 266 from Phoenix to Milwaukee are urged to verify their immunization records via the Wisconsin Immunization Registry. Symptoms of measles typically include a high fever, cough, and a characteristic rash; those exhibiting symptoms should contact their healthcare provider before visiting a clinic in person to prevent further spread.
City Council Proceedings: Judiciary & Legislation Committee
The Common Council’s Judiciary & Legislation Committee is scheduled to convene this morning, Monday, February 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in Room 301-B at City Hall. This session is part of the regular legislative cycle and will cover pending city ordinances and legal claims. Residents who wish to view the proceedings can do so via the City Channel on Spectrum Cable or through the official city website’s live stream. Supporting documents and meeting agendas are available through the City Clerk’s office.
Department of Public Works: Winter Parking Regulations
City officials remind residents that winter parking regulations remain in full effect through March 1, 2026. Overnight parking is strictly prohibited on through highways and established bus routes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Drivers are advised to check all posted street signs, as these take precedence over general city-wide rules. Failure to comply with winter parking restrictions may result in citations ranging from $50 to $150 or the towing of the vehicle. Additionally, residents are reminded that all municipal Drop-Off Centers are closed today, as per the standard Monday schedule.
Transportation Notice: MCTS Service Reduction Preview
The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) has issued a notice regarding the second phase of budget-related service cuts, which will take effect on March 8, 2026. While the current route map is preserved, the upcoming changes will involve shortening segments and reducing the frequency of service on Routes 11, 22, 24, 80, and 88. These adjustments are necessary to address a $9.3 million budget deficit for the current fiscal year. Riders are encouraged to review the updated schedules now to prepare for changes in their daily commutes.
Community Engagement: Lisbon Avenue Corridor Planning
The Department of City Development is hosting a visioning session today, February 23, to discuss the future of the Lisbon Avenue corridor. The event will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Urban Ecology Center in Washington Park (1859 N. 40th St.). This session focuses on street design and economic development for the stretch of Lisbon Avenue between North 27th and North 46th streets. Input from local business owners and residents is requested to help shape upcoming infrastructure improvements.
