Parade returns to downtown with noon step-off and a route through core entertainment corridors

The 58th Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, returning to downtown Milwaukee with a noon start and a route designed to move through the city’s central entertainment districts. Organizers have described the event as a large-scale public celebration of Irish heritage that draws tens of thousands of spectators and features more than 100 participating units.

The parade is set to step off from North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and West Wisconsin Avenue, then proceed along a route described as approximately 1.5 miles long, ending near North Water Street and East Highland Avenue. Programming is expected to include Irish dance performances, pipe and drum groups, decorative floats, Irish wolfhounds, and appearances by local dignitaries.

History and organizers

The St. Patrick’s Day parade tradition in Milwaukee traces its origins to March 17, 1843, and is widely described as among the oldest such celebrations in the United States. The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin has produced the modern iteration of the parade since 1967, and has worked in partnership with the Westown Association since 2002.

Related events and public logistics

Multiple St. Patrick’s season events are scheduled around parade weekend. A Mass in honor of St. Patrick is planned for the morning of March 14 at St. Patrick’s Church, 723 W. Washington St. A post-parade party is also scheduled for March 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Irish Cultural & Heritage Center, 2133 W. Wisconsin Ave., with admission listed as $8 for adults (over age 12) and $20 for families of three or more adults.

A kick-off event is planned for Friday, March 13, at Lucky Clover Irish Pub, 1048 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, running from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is listed as free and open to the public, with live music, beverage specials, and raffle prizes.

Downtown impact and sponsorship structure

Organizers have characterized parade weekend as a significant draw for downtown businesses, including bars, restaurants, and hotels. The 2026 parade is also linked to a new signature partnership with Guinness, alongside a list of supporting sponsors that includes Gruber Law Offices, Jameson, Lucky Clover Irish Pub, Mo’s Irish Pub, Peoples State Bank, VISIT Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Center District.

The parade is scheduled three days before St. Patrick’s Day itself (Tuesday, March 17, 2026), continuing a pattern of holding the event on a Saturday to accommodate larger public attendance.
