Milwaukee woman charged after alleged assault on GreenTree Preparatory Academy staff and reported gun threat

Charges filed after confrontation at an MPS school
A 33-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing multiple criminal charges stemming from an altercation at GreenTree Preparatory Academy, a Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) campus. Prosecutors allege the woman struck school safety staff and made a statement that was interpreted as a threat to return with a gun.
The case includes felony allegations connected to physical contact with school district employees and a separate felony count related to threats, along with a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.
What investigators allege happened on Feb. 13
Police were called to the school at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, on a report of a battery in progress. The incident unfolded near the end of the school day as students were leaving the building.
Investigators allege the dispute began after staff addressed a student’s cellphone use during school hours and directed the student to go to class. As staff monitored dismissal near a lower-level bus exit area, the woman allegedly entered the building without authorization and confronted a school safety employee in a hallway.
Prosecutors allege the woman punched a safety officer in the head and that students joined the confrontation. Two additional safety officers who attempted to intervene were also allegedly struck multiple times during the disturbance. Reported injuries included head pain, facial scratches, and a contusion observed by responding officers.
Alleged threat and safety response
Authorities further allege that during the confrontation the woman made a statement indicating she intended to return and shoot up the school. The alleged statement is central to a felony charge related to threats and is being treated as a factor that heightened staff fears for their safety and the safety of students.
Following the incident, MPS notified families and staff and said the district issued a no-trespass order barring the individual from school grounds. The district also indicated it would address the student conduct aspects of the incident through its disciplinary procedures and student code of conduct.
Counts filed and what comes next
Prosecutors charged the woman with the following:
- Two counts of battery to a school district employee (as a party to a crime)
- Terrorist threats
- Disorderly conduct
Her initial court appearance was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026. Court proceedings will determine whether the case advances to a preliminary hearing and, if so, what evidence is presented to support the allegations. As with any criminal case, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
MPS told families the district notified police immediately, issued a no-trespass order, and offered counseling and support services for students who may have been upset by the incident.
The incident adds to ongoing scrutiny of safety procedures during dismissal periods, when large numbers of students are moving through hallways and exit areas and staff must respond quickly to disruptions.
