Missing-person alert issued in central Milwaukee

Milwaukee police issued a critically missing person alert Wednesday for a 26-year-old woman last seen in the area of North 22nd Street and West Kilbourn Avenue. Police said the woman, identified as Christeanna Hopgood, was last seen at about 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.

Police described Hopgood as a Black woman, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 180 pounds, with brown eyes and a light complexion. She has long braids, with cornrows styled in the back. Police said she was last seen wearing a black jacket, a black T-shirt, gray jogging pants and pink Crocs.

What “critically missing” means in Milwaukee

In Milwaukee, “critically missing” is a classification used by police to prioritize cases where available information suggests the person may be at elevated risk. The designation is commonly used when investigators believe there may be circumstances that increase vulnerability, including age, medical or mental-health concerns, cognitive impairment, or other factors that may make it unsafe for the person to be unaccounted for. Police did not provide additional details about the circumstances behind the classification in this case.

Where the search is centered and how tips are handled

The area around 22nd and Kilbourn sits near downtown Milwaukee and major traffic corridors, with multiple bus routes and high pedestrian activity. Police said Hopgood was last seen near that intersection; they did not say whether she is believed to be traveling on foot or by vehicle, or whether she may have left the area.

In critically missing investigations, early information from the public can be especially important, including time-stamped sightings, surveillance video from nearby businesses or residences, rideshare records, and details about recent contacts. Police typically ask community members to report information even if it seems minor, particularly when it can help confirm direction of travel or establish a timeline.

How to provide information

Police asked anyone with information about Hopgood’s whereabouts to call the Milwaukee Police Department at (414) 935-7232.

  • Call immediately if you believe you have seen Hopgood or have direct information about her location.
  • If you have video or photos that may help, note the time and exact location where they were captured before contacting police.
