Early-morning pursuit ends at Bay and Russell

A Milwaukee police vehicle pursuit ended early Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, after the suspect vehicle crashed into the porch of a home near Bay Street and Russell Avenue on the city’s south side. Police reported no injuries as a result of the crash.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle shortly before 7 a.m. after observing it being driven recklessly. When the driver did not stop, a chase followed and ended when the vehicle lost control and struck the porch, police said.

Who was arrested and what investigators say about the vehicle

Police took four people into custody following the crash: an 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old male, a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. Police said the vehicle involved was later determined to be stolen.

As of the latest available information, investigators had not publicly released additional details about the circumstances of the alleged theft, whether a weapon was involved, or whether property inside the home was damaged beyond the porch impact. Police said the case would be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.

A recurring pattern in Milwaukee: chases that end in property damage

The Dec. 28 crash follows other Milwaukee incidents in which pursuits ended with vehicles striking fixed objects, including porches. In one earlier case on Feb. 12, 2025, police described a pursuit that began near 11th Street and Greenfield Avenue after officers attempted to stop a vehicle in connection with an armed robbery. That pursuit ended when the vehicle struck a porch near Russell Avenue and Bay Street; police reported two arrests and no injuries in that incident.

In each of the porch-crash cases reviewed, police reported no injuries at the scene, while emphasizing referrals for charging decisions.

What happens next

In Wisconsin, prosecutors typically review police reports and any supporting evidence—such as statements, squad video, dispatch logs and vehicle ownership records—before deciding whether to issue charges. Potential charges in pursuit cases can vary widely depending on factors such as the reason for the attempted stop, alleged driving behavior, property damage, and whether the vehicle was stolen.

  • Police reported the Dec. 28 incident began as an attempted traffic stop for reckless driving.

  • The pursuit ended with a crash into a residential porch near Bay Street and Russell Avenue.

  • Four people were arrested; police said the vehicle was stolen.

  • No injuries were reported, and the case is being referred for charging review.
