Winter Public Health Advisory: Extreme Cold Precautions

Following recent extreme cold warnings, the Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) reminds residents that cold weather safety protocols remain a top priority. While the most severe wind chills have begun to stabilize, the risk of frostbite and hypothermia persists. The following public service notices are currently active:

  • Emergency Warming Centers: The Washington Park Senior Center at 4420 W. Vliet St. remains a designated emergency warming location. Residents needing immediate shelter or transportation assistance should dial 2-1-1 to be connected with the nearest available resources.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds all motorists that winter parking regulations are in full effect through March 1, 2026. To ensure efficient snow removal and emergency vehicle access, the following rules apply today:

  • Alternate Side Parking: On even-numbered calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the side of the street with even house numbers. On odd-numbered days, vehicles must be parked on the odd side.
  • Thoroughfares and Bus Routes: Overnight parking is strictly prohibited on designated through-highways and bus routes between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Procurement Notice: Today is the final deadline for Vendor Contract Bid #21566 regarding the supply of end ring couplings. Submissions are due to the Purchasing Division by 4:30 p.m.
